Job Title: Senior Psychologist (0.8 WTE) or Staff Grade Psychologist (Full-Time) – Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS)
Location: Mullingar, Co. Westmeath
Contract Type: 6-12 month contract initially with possible extension
Role: Monday to Friday – Senior Psychologist (0.8 WTE) or Staff Grade Psychologist (Full-Time, 35 hours per week)
Salary: Aligned with HSE Psychologist Pay Scales

Excel Recruitment are recruiting an enthusiastic and dynamic Clinical or Counselling Psychologist to join a dedicated Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) team in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a supportive, forward-thinking service committed to improving the mental health and wellbeing of children and adolescents. You will be supported by two full-time Psychologists who are also based in Mullingar.

The post holder will be based in Mullingar, Co. Westmeath.

About the Role:

  • You’ll be joining a committed CAMHS multi-disciplinary team
  • You will be delivering evidence-based interventions and promoting psychological thinking across the service.
  • You will have access to high quality supervision from experienced psychologists, and there will be opportunities for further training.
  • You will have access to strong leadership support
  • You’ll be responsible for delivering clinical psychology services to children and young people with mental health difficulties, as well as providing support to their carers within the CAMHS team.
  • The role also includes working collaboratively with other professionals, promoting psychological perspectives and approaches across the service, and coordinating care for young people as appropriate
  • You will deliver advanced psychological assessments, formulations, and therapeutic interventions.
  • You will work closely with families and carers to support holistic care.
  • You will play an integral role in supporting a resilient and sustainable service.

Eligibility Criteria:

  • A Doctorate or equivalent in Clinical, Counselling, or Educational Psychology.
  • Eligibility for professional registration with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) or relevant body.
  • Senior Grade: Minimum 5 years post-qualification experience, with at least 2 years at Senior or equivalent level.
  • Staff Grade: Experience working in CAMHS during clinical placement essential.
  • Competence in core psychological assessment formulation and intervention skills.
  • Multidisciplinary work in CAMHS
  • Competence in assessment and management of risk.
  • Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team and to liaise effectively with other professionals.
