Excel Recruitment has partnered with a growing Children’s Disability Service to recruit a Senior Clinical Psychologist.

This position offers the security of a full-time agency contract with the potential to progress to a permanent HSE role, all while working within a large, multidisciplinary team under strong clinical leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  • As a Senior Clinical Psychologist, you will provide leadership and expertise in the delivery of psychological services.
  • You will conduct complex psychological assessments and provide evidence-based interventions for children and adolescents (0-18 years) with a range of developmental, intellectual, physical, and sensory needs, including autism spectrum disorder. Your role will also involve: Leading clinical practice and providing expert psychological consultation to the multidisciplinary team.
  • Conducting complex psychological assessments and delivering highly specialised, evidence-based therapeutic interventions tailored to the needs of children with disabilities and complex presentations.
  • Providing clinical supervision and mentorship to junior psychologists and other team members.
  • Contributing to the development of Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs) in collaboration with families and the multidisciplinary team.
  • Participating in multidisciplinary team (MDT) meetings, case discussions, and joint interventions alongside Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, Social Workers, and Speech and Language Therapists.
  • Developing and delivering psychoeducation, counselling, and care planning to empower families in managing their child’s needs.
  • Leading and contributing to service development, team learning, and continuous quality improvement initiatives.
  • Maintaining accurate, confidential, and timely documentation and reports in accordance with best practice and legal requirements.
  • Engaging in clinical supervision and ongoing professional development activities.

Candidate Requirements:

  • A recognised qualification at Doctorate level (or equivalent) in Clinical, Counselling, or Educational Psychology.
  • Eligibility for membership with the Psychological Society of Ireland (PSI) and a strong clinical track record.
  • Overseas qualifications must be validated by the Department of Health at the time of application.
  • Demonstrated post-qualification experience working with children and young people with neurodevelopmental conditions, including autism, ADHD, intellectual disability, and emotional or behavioural challenges.
  • Proven experience in a senior or leadership role with responsibility for clinical supervision, team consultation, or service development.
  • In-depth knowledge of a broad range of psychological assessments and intervention frameworks
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative working skills.
  • Ability to manage a complex and varied caseload and work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Full driver’s licence and access to a car preferred but not essential.
