Site General Manager – Newtownabbey

Full-time Monday to Friday

£55,000 – £65,000

Excel Recruitment are seeking an experienced Site General Manager to lead a high-volume distribution centre in Newtownabbey. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for the overall management of the site – driving performance, ensuring compliance, and delivering strategic business objectives across its UK and Ireland freight operations.

Requirements

• 5+ years in a senior managerial role within logistics, transport, or freight
• Proven experience managing high-volume, time-critical operations
• Proven ability to manage site finances, including full responsibility for profit and loss performance
• Deep understanding of transport legislation and compliance
• Experience in express/road freight and cross-border logistics
• Strategic thinker with strong analytical, communication, and problem-solving skills
• Demonstrated ability to lead, engage, and develop high-performing teams

Responsibilities

• As the Site General Manager, you will provide overall leadership and strategic direction
• Manage full site operations to ensure safety, compliance, and efficiency
• Make strategic decisions that impact cost, revenue, and overall business performance
• Build and maintain strong customer relationships, resolving issues promptly
• Oversee driver, vehicle, and site compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements
• Lead customs clearance processes, import/export flows, and cross-border operations
• Plan for seasonal peaks and optimise labour, stock, and transport resources
• Analyse data and KPIs to improve delivery, turnaround times, and service levels
• Promote a culture of continuous improvement, safety, and high performance
• Develop and support team growth, engagement, and accountability
