Candidates: Layout of a Curriculum Vita
The CV is laid out into a number of sections:
- Contact Details
- Career Summary
- Work Experience
- Education
- Interests
You should aim for a two page CV, as any potential employer is not going to sift through a ton of information to get to the relevant points.
Name:
Address:
Phone No.:
Date of Birth: ( Optional )
Full driving license ?
Health:
Marital Status: (Optional)
Career Summary
A one or two paragraph section detailing the highlights of your career to date.

Led... Organized.. Developed....
You should aim for about three paragraphs of approximately five lines each for your most recent job, half this for your previous job and a few lines for each job before that. We have allocated the equivalent of one full A4 size page worth of text to this section, which can be split between three screens. We format the first screen for the most recent job, the second for your job previous and the last screen to all jobs prior to that.
Education and Awards
School: (Name & address)
Qualifications:
(Results of exams)
3rd Level Institution:
(Name & address)
(Qualification title - Diploma in etc. / Results in exams)
Other Education Information:
(Languages, Certificates, Membership of trade / professional bodies)
Interests
This is an opportunity to give some additional information to the potential employer. If you have lead a team or group, been a team member, excelled at a particular interest or have developed skills in an area, mention it here.
References
This is an optional section as you may have a number of references, which are relevant to different aspects of your career. It may be advisable to state that "references are available on request". Then at the interview give the references - phoning the referees immediately afterwards to advise them that they may be getting a reference check soon!
